HOW TO LAND YOUR DREAM JOB IN LESS THAN A WEEK!

In todays blog I want to share with you a step by step formula that will show you how you can literally land any job in any industry in less than a week!

This is a formula that I have tried & succeeded in many times & so have my students who have implemented this strategy too!

What you will learn, is the complete framework in landing a job but not just any job, your dream job in a matter of days. Everything covered in this newsletter is a step-by-step guide in how you can land the job of your dreams, but it is important that the formula must be followed to a T!

Step 1.

Never call a business if you are looking to go and work with them, this shows a lack of real desire to work with them, you want to be different & people naturally want to see who they are employing, over the phone can be deceiving to a certain level & also what you need to bare in mind is that the owner or manager is probably busy and the likelihood of them forgetting about you the second they hang up the phone is massive as he has a business to run and clients to speak to all day, by the time their day ends you are the last thing they are going to remember.

What you want to do is go in Face to Face.

It is more memorable when you meet someone in person, see their character and personality and can judge if you would be a fit for their business & it shows that you are willing to go the extra step as most people in this day & age are naturally lazy & take the easy route, but if you can show them that you can go that one step further & show up looking & acting professionally, it immediately sets you a part from the rest!

A call should only be for a follow up after you have been there face to face.

It's important that after you have gone in face to face that you wait a few days maybe 4 days max, that you follow up with a call, this will show the level of intent & commitment you have to working for that person or business & if they can see the level of intent & commitment you have, naturally they will start to think you may be an asset to the team because you show initiative, persistence & willingness.

Step 2.

The time you spend unemployed should be time spent looking for your job.

The objective here is to fill your days up from 9-5 or 9-7 Monday - Saturday knocking on businesses doors of your desired industry & to treat that week of unemployment as a week of work, to finding your new job, no excuses 9-7 knocking on doors getting infront of the decision makers.

Step 3.

It's a numbers game (law of average).

If you go to 10 businesses a day (1 per hour) & you speak to the manager or the employer, you will get at least 1 job offer, if you speak to 50 - 60 businesses a week that's 5-6 job offers in the space of a week.

Most people hand CV's out and don't go in and ask to speak to the manager or employer & if they do they only hand their CV's out for a day or so, or to a handful of businesses or only speak to a handful of employers within a week, 3-5 businesses or meetings is nowhere near enough, the more no's you get the closer you are to get a 'yes', so your objective should be to speak to as many businesses as possible in the industry you want to work in & don't get negative when you get told no, because the more no's you get the more likely you are to get a yes eventually, but it's about speaking to so many employers that it increases your chances of eventually getting a yes!

If you speak to 100 employers, granted 1 will say yes, I bet at least a minimum of 10 will say yes, the law of average is a filtration system all businesses use to assure that they will convert a certain number of deals, it's the same with landing a job.

The average conversion rate when working the law of averages, across the board in every industry & business is 10%, so it's about maximising your numbers & speaking to as many businesses as you can to ensure that you have more options within that 10% bracket.

You always want to give yourself options, if you have 1 job offer that is not enough options, you want multiple offers so you can weigh up your options and pick the right business that fits you, even if you get 5 offers you can weigh up your options, do trial days in each business & then see which one suits you best, I guarantee you you will find one that suits you, where you can see a future for yourself!

Step 4.

Negotiate the terms that work best for the business and yourself, the last thing you want to do is get tied in long-term to somewhere where you're not 100% happy.

You want flexibility long term, meaning you will want to earn more the longer you are there.

If you start on a day rate, or a fixed salary, make sure you can go on percentage or have a commission or bonus structure in place based on your performance, but make sure this is the last thing you talk about.

Nothing annoys an employer more, than when a potential employer jumps straight to how much they can expect to earn. First you need to prove your worth, show them how valuable you are & what you can achieve for their business & leave earnings till last.

You want to show that you are there to add value & add to the growth & vision of the business, at the end of the day when you get to talk about earnings you will first know if its somewhere where you can grow in & if there will be great earning potentials or if its a dead end.

And most of all you want to make Sure that you gel with the employer, team & environment first because money isn't the only determining factor you need to consider when looking to join a new place of work.

Step 5.

Sell yourself and make sure you have some pictures of your work, you have a portfolio to hand and or references, the employer will want to see your value even if they do not ask, insist on showing your work so it makes it easier for them to say yes.

Don't under value and under sell yourself because the business may lose a valuable asset which is 'you'.

Step 6.

Give an irresistible offer!

It will give you the upper hand to get your foot in the door!

If you approach an employer and give them a 2 week trial period or a month trial period (especially if it is your dream job) FREE of Charge with guaranteed client satisfaction as well as increasing the businesses earnings & adding to a positive environment with guaranteed results to bring in more clients, more earnings & growth for the business, then it becomes a no brainer fro the employer to take you on, who could say no to that, unless they were completely fully staffed with absolutely no space, that is an extremely irresistible offer!

At the end of the day, you're offering free labour with guaranteed results, it's a win win for them & if you can guarantee the results you promise, then they're not going to get rid of you, if anything they are going to want to keep you!

I learned this trick from my dad, the company he worked for got liquidated (he was in the motor trade), so he approached one of the biggest car dealerships in Ireland & they told him that they had no space to employ him, so he asked them to put him down as the 'coffee boy' & to 'let the numbers do the talking'...

Within 3 weeks they got rid of the guy who they had & employed him as the service manager on a full-time contract with great bonuses & shortly after he was voted the leading service manager in all of Ireland.

So, the importance of crafting an irresistible offer that the employer can't say no to is crucial, but you need to make sure it's a win win for them.

Step 7.

Quick solutions for daily problems are a sure fire way to get someone to buy into you!

It's important that you do your due diligence (homework) before you go into each company, so that when you do go in you can be prepared.

If you can pin point the main problems they may be having & can offer a great solution to fix their problems & make the work easier for them while bringing in more business, then it also becomes a no brainer for them, the most valuable people in businesses are the problem solvers.

Step 8.

Get a trial day booked in!

If you can get a trial day booked in, that is commitment from the employer which is a guaranteed way to get your foot in the door.

If they are willing to commit to a trial day, that means they will be willing to commit to employ.

Step 9.

Bring your own equipment, if you can come prepared with your own equipment, notes, systems & ideas it shows you are...

  • Professional
  • Committed
  • Respectful
  • Willing to work & value the business & the employer

Step 10.

Product upsells!

If you can upsell products & services to clients, while you're in the shop or business, while you are doing your trial day, this shows you are excited about work and that you are a money maker, you don't just do your job role but you also focus on brining in money for the business in other areas!

Who can say no to that?

Step 11.

Do your due diligence!

Make sure you do your homework and go and see how busy they are, make sure you speak to other employees or past employees too, so that you can build a picture of what it would be like to stay there long term & if it is somewhere you can see yourself having a career.

Remember have options, work your law of averages, so if you don't like one place you have options to move to another, you'd be surprised!

Step 12.

If your in sales for example factor in the prices of the products & services you'll be selling & the commission structures too, so that you can see what your earning capacity is, as you don't want to sacrifice the quality of your work for the sake of earnings.

The goal is to enjoy what you do, take pride in it & make great money while doing so!

So these are the 12 steps I personally use when looking for employers & what I give to all my students who are looking to find their dream jobs & careers that they can grow in long-term.

I hope it helped!
